Is November a good month for a trading trip to Vietnam?

Yes, if you pick the right end of the country. The north has some of its best weather of the year and the south is entering its dry season, while the central coast is at the peak of its rains.

Vietnam is long and thin, so November gives you three climates at once. For a trader that matters twice: once for your mornings outside, and again for your connection, because storms and floods are what take out power and fibre.

What are the session times in Vietnam this November?

From Monday 2 November, London opens at 15:00 and New York at 20:00 Vietnam time, US data lands at 20:30 and the FOMC statement at 02:00. They stay there until the US clocks change again on 14 March 2027.

The week before was the odd one out, when the UK had changed and the US hadn't. Our US clock change guide has the before and after, and the full year is in forex market hours in Vietnam.

  • NFP: usually the first Friday of the month, which points to 6 November. Confirm the date on your economic calendar.
  • Thanksgiving: Thursday 26 November. US stock markets close for the day and close early on Friday 27, so the whole week tends to run thin.
  • Late New York: with the open at 20:00, the overlap with London runs to midnight. A Hanoi evening in the cool air makes the dinner break easy.

Why is Hanoi the best base in November?

Cool, dry days around 25°C, soft light, a city that lives outdoors, and easy weekends in Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay or Sapa, all on the same UTC+7 clock as the rest of Vietnam.

  • Mornings: walk Hoan Kiem Lake before the traffic, coffee in the Old Quarter, a run around West Lake.
  • Weekends: when markets close, an overnight cruise on Ha Long Bay or a night in Ninh Binh. Calm seas and clear views are typical this month.
  • Old Quarter in 2026: since 1 July 2026, petrol motorbikes are banned from 11 core streets on Friday evenings and all weekend, so weekends are quieter. Petrol GrabBikes can't use those streets at all, so walk to the edge of the zone or book a Grab car.
  • Hanoi Marathon: Sunday 8 November 2026. Roads around the centre close early that morning, so plan any airport run around it.

One honest catch: air quality slips from late November as cold, still air traps pollution. Early November is usually fine. Check an air-quality app each morning, and pick a room with an air purifier if you're staying into December.

Should traders avoid Da Nang and Hoi An in November?

Unless you can move your dates, yes. October and November are the wettest months on the central coast, and floods and storms can cut power, fibre, roads and flights for days.

In late October 2025, Hue recorded more than a metre of rain in 24 hours and Hoi An's old town flooded to waist height. Not every year is like that, but this is when it happens. If you do go, book refundable rooms, choose a building with a generator, keep a mobile backup on a different network (our two-route setup), and make sure your stops are in the market before you sleep. For Da Nang at its best, February to May is the window: see Da Nang for traders.

What about Saigon and Phu Quoc?

Saigon works all month: hot, drying out and with the best infrastructure in the south. Phu Quoc gets better as the month goes on, with calmer seas from mid-November.

Both are on the same time zone as Hanoi, so your sessions don't change. For the full region-by-region picture, including Ha Giang's buckwheat season, our sister site's Vietnam in November 2026 guide goes into more detail, and its 7-day northern itinerary fits this month well.
